About Me
My name is Kali Pappas, and I'm a web designer and college instructor based in California.
I taught myself how to hand-code HTML back in 1996, using SimpleText on my old Macintosh Performa. Since then, I've learned quite a bit more (and acquired much better computers!). I've served as an associate web producer, as a freelance designer, and as a non-profit website committee member in recent years. I am now proficient in web graphics creation, site direction, and a number of pertinent software programs.
My formal education is in political science, classical civilization, and law. I hold a B.A. and a Juris Doctor degree from U.C. Berkeley, and maintain an interest in intellectual property issues relating to the internet. I teach political science and western civilization at our local community college.
My design style is clean and eccentric, though I do like to experiment. I work with Macromedia/Adobe Dreamweaver and Fireworks, Flash (for drawings), Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, ImageReady, and various other programs. I build unique sites using CSS, XHTML, HTML, DHTML elements, javascript, php designs, php scripts (Gallery, CRE Loaded, Sphider, &c.), and more. I write and edit, too.
Various awards I've received over the years include:
- Golden Web Award, IAWMB
- Diamond Web Award, IAWMB
- Way-Cool Site Award, BobStaake.com
- Silver Award, Best of the Web for MacOS
- GroundZero Design Award
- Canonical Designs Award for Website Excellence
